Minecraft is a game with virtually limitless potential, with players constructing amazingly intricate movie recreations, villages, and more. But this does not extend to your essential character skin. In reality, we believe that Minecraft’s default skins have a lot to be desired, but how can you modify your character’s skin without a built-in skin editor?
The good news is that you can alter your skin in Minecraft, although the method varies depending on your platform. We’ll show you how to change your skin in Minecraft on PC, console, and mobile.
What are Minecraft Skins
Skins in Minecraft are used to customize the look of a player’s character and have no influence on the game’s gameplay or mechanics.
Skins were included extremely early in Minecraft’s development, notably in the 0.11.0 release. In 2014, a totally new, smaller player model was also added into the game, shaking up the world of Minecraft skins.
Change your Minecraft skins on Java edition – PC/MAC

Step 1: Get the skin you wish to use.
First and foremost, you must obtain the skin you wish to replace Steve. To do so, go to a reputable website that carries free Minecraft skins – such as Skindex or Minecraft skins. Then, select a Minecraft skin that you like, and download it.
Step 2: Go to Minecraft.net and sign in.
After you’ve downloaded the Minecraft skin you wish to use, go to the official Minecraft website (www.minecraft.net), click on Profile at the top of the screen, and sign in with your Mojang account.
Step 3: Save the skin to your Minecraft profile.
After you’ve logged in, go to the Profile page and click the Browse button. Next, navigate to the directory where you downloaded the skin you want to use, pick it, hit Enter, and click Upload on the Profile page. When you receive a confirmation message, the skin will have been uploaded. Your Minecraft character will change as soon as the skin is uploaded.
Step 4: Launch Minecraft to see what has changed.
Launch Minecraft if you’re already in the game, exit, and re-enter. Load up any planet, and you’ll notice that your character has changed.
Change your Minecraft skins on Pocket Edition

Step 1: Start the Minecraft app.
Minecraft can be downloaded through the Google Play Store for Android or the App Store for iPhone and iPad.
Step 2: Select Profile.
If you aren’t already signed in to your Minecraft account, press Sign In on the left and sign in using the email address and password you use for your Microsoft or Xbox account.
Step 3: To choose a character, tap or >.
You can choose from a number of different characters. Tap the arrow symbols next to your Minecraft character to pick a character.
Step 4: Select Edit Character.
It’s the button on the left, directly beneath your character. This brings up the character editing window.
Step 5: To see all skins in a skin pack, tap the number next.
The menu to the left shows three skins from each skin pack. Tap the plus (+) and number symbol next to the three skins to see all skins in that skin pack.
Step 6: Tap on a skin.
This determines the skin. When you play the game, your character will wear that skin.
